Why I chose A-Level Media

I chose A-Level Media as it is a truly contemporary and genuinely vocational subject which is relevant to my life. The media saturates everything we do in the developed world in the 21st Century. Taking this subject will hopefully give me the tools to analyse and critique the media and give me the chance to see the ways in which the media effects my life. As a 'consumer' I will become more aware of any ways in which media messages are presented to me, as well as discovering how the institutions which produce and distribute media products are trying to reach me. Producing and evaluating my own media productions will give me a real hands-on understanding of both how media messages are created and what they are aiming to do. The subject also improves literacy skills abilities in other subjects. To add to thus it is intellectually challenging. I am aware that the course is rigorously assessed. This makes me determined to focus and achieve my goals in this subject.
